Your ultrasound field training with certified sonographers.

Externship Summary

EXTN 700

5 Credit Hours

Our students know how to proficiently scan complete protocols in abdominal ultrasound examinations, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd obstetric ultrasound examinations, thyroid ultrasound examinations, transabdominal ultrasound examinations, carotid duplex examinations, and upper and lower extremity venous duplex examinations.

Once students enter a clinical setting their goals are to get faster at exam times, efficient with new equipment, and experienced with all examinations. Our students help sonographer preceptors and offer support in ultrasound departments helping efficient work flow while training.

Students will be introduced to more sensitive exams and invasive exams not performed in the sonography scanning laboratory practicums.

Program Proficiency Plan

There is a lot of information to understand and retain in order for a student to grow into a competent and confident diagnostic ultrasound technologist. We respect that it can take different individuals different lengths of time to master the craft of diagnostic ultrasound. Students need to successfully perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations using the best ergonomics, scanning techniques, and approach patients with the appropriate patient-care for age and cultural backgrounds before they begin an ultrasound technician externship. Therefore, we give the students the opportunity to repeat modules at no additional expense.

Sonography Coursework accompanies scanning practicums for comprehensive training in performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

An Externship Completes Our Ultrasound Program

Graduates are highly skilled, competent, and confident making them highly employable.
